We all have been cheated in our lives in one way or the
other by other people, some of whom have pretended to be our friends, some of
them even carrying the title of “men of God.”
I have been a victim of many confidence tricksters in several
ways.
In 2010 I almost lost my house in Lusaka to a group of confidence
tricksters.
In 2013 and 2014 I was tricked by a number of local and
overseas business owners who pretended that we could work together as
"partners". In all cases I later found that I was just used by the
same people and I have lost time and money in the process.
Why should people cheat others?
The origin of deceit originated from the beginning of
creation
Adam, the first man, was created by God in his own image
without sin.
Satan tempted Eve to eat the forbidden fruit of the Garden
of Eden. Later on Adam was convinced by Eve to eat the same fruit.
God was angry with them. "So the Lord God expelled him
from the garden in Eden to cultivate the ground from which he had been taken.
When he drove the man out, he placed on the eastern side of the garden in Eden
angelic sentries who used the flame of a whirling sword to guard the way to the
tree of life." (Genesis 3:23-24).
As a result of sin, the human mind has deviated from the
spirit of God.
The Bible describes the human mind thus:-
"The human mind is more deceitful than anything else.
It is incurably bad. Who can understand it?" (Jeremiah 17:9).
Our Lord Jesus Christ describes Satan as "The thief who
comes only to steal and kill and destroy,” (John 10:10) and people who are
under Satan’s influence thus: -
"You people are from your father the devil, and you
want to do what your father desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and
does not uphold the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he lies,
he speaks according to his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of
lies." (John 8:44).
As Christians, it is our duty to continually fight the
snares of Satan with the Word of God.
In all cases where I was cheated by these crooked
businessmen I have come out more stronger as the Lord has added even more to
what was stolen from me.
